Faculty of Postgraduate Medicine under KGUMSB is Bhutan’s first and only Faculty in Postgraduate Medicine.

The Faculty was initially established as Postgraduate Medical Education Centre (PGMEC) in the year 2014 and formally inaugurated as Faculty of Postgraduate Medicine on May 14, 2016 by Honorable Health Minister Lyponpo Tandin Wangchuk. It was established to oversee the conduct of the Postgraduate Medical Education Programmes.

The Faculty of Postgraduate Medicine is currently headed by third Dean, Dr. Guru Prasad Dhakal.

The faculty offers postgraduate Course as MD (Doctorate of Medicine). As of now, the Faculty has 69 residents enrolled from 2019 till 2022 in the 12 disciplines. The courses offered currently are MD courses in Anesthesiology, Dermatology, General Practice, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedic Surgery, Pediatrics, Otorhinolaryngology(ENT), Psychiatry and General Surgery. The courses are offered for four years duration.
